Community Medical Center encourages everyone to be proactive about staying healthy. One way to prevent chronic illness or serious disease is to follow a schedule for preventative screenings. Most of these screenings are now covered by insurance companies at no cost to the insured individual. Talk with your doctor about which screenings you may need based on your health.
Some of the common screenings recommended by national advisory groups are listed here.
Screenings for Mental Health and Substance use disorders are recommended, but not normally covered by insurance.
Children
Physical Exam – Annual exam age birth-18
Vaccine – Various vaccines are recommend ages birth-18
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphili s – Sexually active youth
Depression – Children 12+ with signs or symptoms
Developmental screening – age 9 – 30 months
Hearing screening – all children
HIV – Teens age 15+
Obesity – age 2+
Vision – age 3+
Adults
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm – Men age 65-75 who have ever smoked tobacco
Alcohol Use screening – All adults
Bone Density screening – Women 65+
Breast Cancer Screening – Women age 40-75
Cervical Cancer – PAP Test every 3 years Women age 21-65
Colorectal Cancer – Adults age 45+ every 5 years, Men and Women at high risk
Depression – All Adults
Diabetes – Adults with high blood pressure
Falls – Adults age 65+
Hepatitis C – Adults born 1945 -1965
HIV – All Adults
Lung Cancer – Adults age 55-80 who have smoked tabacco
Vaccines – Pneumonia – Age 65+
Vaccines – Flu – All Adults
