COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER is dedicated to serving others, caring with compassion, and making a difference for individuals and surrounding communities.  

Originally founded in 1918 Community Medical Center was the fifth hospital in Nebraska to receive accreditation from the American Hospital Association.

Today’s new medical facility was constructed in 2009.   Our state-of-the-art, 24-bed critical care hospital centers on excellence in patient care serving Richardson County and the regional communities. CMC is currently under construction with an exciting 8 million dollar expansion/renovation project. Major enhancements of the expansion are the Family Medicine Clinic and Surgery Center.

Patients will find advanced treatment and comfortable care in the 68,000-square-foot hospital. CMC includes single-occupancy patient rooms, two labor-delivery-postpartum recovery (LDRP) suites, a state-of-the-art surgical center, in-house new MRI, a GE 64-slice CT scanner and spacious physical therapy department and newly expanded Family Medicine Clinic. What hasn’t changed is the dedication, compassion and superior care from the 170 employees of Community Medical Center.

• Services: CMC provides a full range of medical services. Minimally invasive knee replacement surgery as well as hip and shoulders, VanaCure EVLT non-surgical vein treatment and TIF procedure; an effective solution for chronic acid reflux both performed by Dr. Roderick Warren, emergency medicine, hospitalist program, acute hospitalization, skilled nursing recovery, orthopedic and general surgery, emergency department, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, oncology and chemotherapy, physical. Occupational and respiratory therapy and cardiac rehabilitation. In order to give primary care services to county residents, Community Medical Center operates Family Medicine Clinic in its spacious facility in Falls City, as well as the Humboldt Family Medicine in Humboldt. Additionally, physician specialists from major medical centers in Lincoln, Omaha, and Kansas City maintain active part-time practices in the modern specialty clinic at CMC.
• Partnerships: Community partnerships include the Good Beginnings Program for all new mothers and babies; Baby, Birth & Beyond Program; active diabetic education classes; Growing Great Kids; community wellness programs and the CMC Foundation annual “Golf Fore Good Health” Charitable Golf Tournament. Additionally, CMC supports numerous community projects, organizations and activities through sponsorship, employee volunteerism and civic group membership.  CMC is a major sponsor of the annual Cobblestone Fun Run/Walk, SENCA Food Pantry, free Summer Lunch Program at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and other community events.

Falls City Library & Arts Center at 1400 Stone Street is home to the Stalder Gallery which hosts traveling art shows. One of the most distinguishing features of the library is the permanent collection of artwork by area artists, including Miss Alice Cleaver and John Philip Falter.  402-245-2913.

John Philip Falter Museum at 1622 Stone Street opened in historical downtown Falls City, NE on May 1, 2015 in the lobby of the former Richardson County Bank. After graduating from Falls City High School in 1928, John Philip Falter went on to become a world-renowned illustrator. The museum features: his Philadelphia studio (on loan from the Nebraska State Historical Society Museum), his 129 “Saturday Evening Post” covers, original Jazz works and prints, as well as other works on loan from local collectors.

Itha-Krumme Memorial Arboretum , located at West 25th Street and Clinton is the only site within the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum system showcasing plants native to Nebraska and surrounding states. Richardson Military History Museum – Located inside the National Historic Registered courthouse at 1700 Stone Street, it contains a collection that includes war memorabilia from World War I to present. It is open Monday-Friday 8a.m.-5p.m. for self-guided tours. 402-245-4228.

Richardson County Museum is located two blocks west of the junction of Highways 73 and 159 and its collections include an 1855 letter from Abraham Lincoln, a collection of operating antique clocks, pioneer displays, Indian, military, and railroad artifacts. Richardson County memorabilia from surrounding communities, and schools that have closed, are also housed here. It is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2-4 p.m., and by appointment. 402-245-3481.

Historic Grand Weaver Hotel , located in downtown Falls City, is one of premier accommodation facilities in the area. A display case featuring memorabilia from the hotel’s past include a mural of Nebraska roadways prior to Interstate 80 and a telephone system operated by a central switchboard, which was in use as recently as 2008.  402-245-2448
